When is memory no longer a good thing

It was 6 years ago today that the world trade centres were knocked down by Terrorists. 6 years ago I remember sitting in my gr. 5 class and recieving the news. I was a little confused as rumours rapidly began spreading of something happening in the U.S. and us getting potentially deadly aircraft sent up to our canadian airports. It wasn't until I got home that I heard the story. 2 aircraft had collided with the world trade centre, another had crashed into the pentagon, and a fourth had crashed oddly into a field. Emergency crews were trying desperately to save as many as they could but hope looked bleak.

This was indeed a tragedy. Many people were killed, affected, and the outlook of the world was changed forever. Since then endless books have been written, multiple movies have been made, and many documentarys have been filmed. 9/11 is close to becoming a national holiday as people tend to reflect every year on this day. However let's go to another story,

July 7th 2005, The city of London was ready for another busy day but little did they know that they were about to get a nasty wakeup call. It seems the same terrorist group seen at 9/11 decided to try another country as they had so sucessfully completed their mission at the U.S. So they decided to plant bombs in the London metro. The bombs exploded also successfully killing hundreds and wounding many more. The terrorist attack seemed to be in all ways sucessful yet at the same time it failed miserably.

If we look closely at the word terrorist we notice that it says terror-ist, not revolution-ist, or politc-ist. A terrorist does not try to take over a country or lead people to a certain religion as the media suggests, it's main and only purpose is to strike terror to the hearts of millions. Let us compare the U.S. to England.

The U.S. has since 9/11 managed to sneak the 9/11 event into the news about once a week. Most of the world knows about 9/11 and it's the reasoning behind a lot of racial profiling, hightened airport security, and violence. People are beggining to commit their own terror attacks expecting to get away with it as they can always just blame it on Al Kaida. I'm not saying that Al kaida is being mistreated but I am saying that copycats tend to pop up when you never let your country forget about a certain event.

London, the media spoke about for about a week tops. Now a days when mentioned, most people are confused and wonder what you are talking about. Yes it appears that the world has completely forgotten about that event. Im not saying tha London is made of heartless people, they do know what it is but at the same time people do not talk about it every day. As a result, the terrorists have almost completely stopped attacking them as opposed to the almost daily reports of bombing attempts in america.

By this point you're probablly grinding your teeth and about to write a less than intelligable language comment about "You're no American so what do you know?" So I will take this moment to say that no I'm not American. I'm also not English or from and middle eastern culture. Well actually I'm a mix of every culture but as to main ethnicy I'm not any of those. I'm also not a scholar, or an adult and I can promise you that my research for this blog did not go beyond my memory and wikipedia. But I can state this. I am nothing but some kid in some unknown location reporting what I see. I am a unbiased report which has nothing to gain from lying but at the same time wishes to report how little sense the world makes.

In conclusion I do feel bad this day for what happened 6 years ago, and I'm not saying to ignore the dead. But what I do disagree with is letting things such as the media try to provoke terror in us as the terrorists want to after 6 years. 9/11 has done exactly what those terrorists had wanted, it put a country into chaos, made people lose trust in each other, it's made people hate each other, and seased up trade and transportation. So please, I know those were bad people who caused all this chaos, but we all have bad people in our countries
